About Bohol

Bohol is an island province of the Philippines located in the Central Visayas region. It is the tenth largest island of the Philippines and is surrounded by the rich waters of the Bohol Sea. The residents of Bohol, the Boholano, are a proud race and refer to their island homeland as the “Republic of Bohol”.

On the south of Bohol lies Panglao Island, dotted with white sandy beaches and fringed with coral reefs. The famous Alona Beach is located on Panglao, and is the main hub of diving and resort activity. 30-minutes from Panglao lies Balicasag Island, one of the top ten dive sites in the Philippines.

The Chocolate Hills, numerous mounds of limestone formations, were formed of coral limestone when Bohol was submerged in the Ice Age. Another attraction is the rare and endangered Philippine Tarsier, the second-smallest primate in the world, endemic to the island. We recommend you only visit the Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella, as other tarsier-holding facilities in Bohol do not necessarily operate with the protection of the tarsier in mind.

The most convenient way of getting to Bohol is to fly via Manila on Cebu Pacific, Zest Air (Air Asia Philippines) or Philippine Airlines to Tagbilaran airport. You can also take a ferry to Tagbilaran pier from Cebu for about Php500 a ticket one-way.
